week #10 (… and also weeks 8 & 9): top five songs

Hello to everyone who reads this! I slacked these past weeks getting the music I’ve been jamming out to on to the webs for you! I’ve been so busy in my day to day; reading pretty much non-stop, meeting fantastic folks who are teaching me about life, and just improving myself little by little. I often forget that I need to just take a moment to breathe and ponder on the things that really matter to me. One of these things is my music. I’m posting a little early but I was so excited to share.

I simply love music because, despite all of the differences people have in the world, one thing we have in common is listening to music. It is everywhere and you interact with it whether you like it or not. It is scientifically proven that music can elicit emotional responses in people. To me, that is an undeniably wonderful reaction to something intangible that goes into our ears! Brains are a funny thing. We all lead different lives and we all love different genres of music, yet, sometimes we feel the same things when listening to the vast array of musical products available today.

“You can’t touch music, but music can touch you” — Mordecai, from the Regular Show

So, usually (and by usually, I mean two times previously) I post the five songs that I am going to be listening to pretty consistently! Gotta get those emotions a stirrin’. This week, I want to share the five songs for this upcoming week and then a bonus ten songs since I didn’t post for the past two weeks. I know… I know… you can thank me later.

Fun Fact: when I find a song I like a lot, I listen to it on repeat, constantly. Usually over 100 times (at a minimum).

week #7: top five songs

Here are the top five songs of for this upcoming week. These songs are kind of all over the place emotionally due to the post about exes earlier this week. These five songs were chosen carefully to tell a story of where I have come since August and where I am currently at in my life.

It starts off with the point where the relationship I was in started to deteriorate and I knew that our days together were numbered (track #1). After the trigger had been pulled, I spiraled down into a dark and treacherous hole, wondering if I could navigate this lightless life I now had (track #2). Thankfully, time heals all wounds. While I have days where I relapse, for the most part, I am whole and know exactly how I want to treat each relationship moving forward. *Note: do not focus on the verses, I chose this song for the chorus* I have made the decision that when I start a relationship, I will always give 100. I did not do this before and it is why the relationships ended. I am working on a post about this for the future but I will always try to do anything for my significant other (track #4). Finally, close this all out, I will give my all in a relationship and one day I will meet a woman who will bring me out of the dark and become the light of my life (track #5). Sidenote, please do not miss construe this as me saying I need to be in a relationship to be happy. I do not. I just prefer to experience life with a partner and I look forward to that in my future.

  1. Pick Up The Phone – Lupe Fiasco
  2. All Time Low – Jon Bellion
  3. Let Me Love You – SJUR (ft. Chris Crone)
  4. Anything You Want – HYDDE & MOONZz
  5. Say You Won’t Let Go – James Arthur

Fun fact: the first concert that I ever attended was a Mötley Crüe concert.
